Player Code of Conduct
The following standards are established by Greenburgh United and govern the behavior of all Greenburgh United players before, during and after soccer club events. By registering for any of our programs, players are agreeing to the following:
I will demonstrate fair play and good sportsmanship at every practice, game and tournament. I will also encourage fair play and good sportsmanship from other players, coaches, officials, and parents.
I will attend every practice and game that I can, and I will notify (or my parents will) my coach if I cannot make a practice or game.
I will come to practices and games on time and ready to learn. I accept responsibility for bringing any equipment necessary for practice (ball, cleats, shin guards, water,) and games (cleats, shin guards, water and team uniform).
I will follow coaching direction and will not be disruptive during practice or games, nor will I or use bad language or inappropriate gestures.
I will treat other players, coaches, officials, and fans with respect regardless of race, sex, or ability, and I will expect to be treated accordingly.
I will respect the authority of the referee, even though I may sometimes disagree with the call.
I deserve to have fun during my soccer experience. I will alert parents or coaches if it stops being fun.
I deserve to play in an environment free of drugs, including tobacco and alcohol, and will expect everyone to refrain from their use at all practices and games.
I will encourage my parents to be involved with my team in some capacity because it is important to me.
I will conduct myself with honor, dignity and treat other players as I would like to be treated. I will remember at all times that I am representing Greenburgh United, my team and my community.
I understand that poor behavior during practices, games, or tournaments may result in lost playing time and if persistent, expulsion from the team.
I will practice my skills outside of structured practices to improve my game, and encourage my team mates to do the same and if possible with each other.
I will try my best to do my soccer ‘homework’ if given to me by my coach.
I will watch professional soccer games live or on TV when possible to increase my knowledge of the game.
I will always try my best at every practice/game/tournament in the hope and expectation that my team mates will do the same.
I will always be on my best behavior and show a positive attitude when representing Greenburgh United and encourage my team mates to do the same. If I see they are not it is my duty as a Greenburgh United player to inform my teammate(s) they are falling below the standards required of them.
I understand that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned Greenburgh United Player Code of Conduct, I will be subject to disciplinary action that could include, but is not limited to the following:
Verbal warning by the Coach
Suspension/reduction from playing time/tournaments/practices
Removal from playing for Greenburgh United
I have read this Greenburgh United Player Code of Conduct. I understand its requirements and agree to abide by the letter and spirit of this Greenburgh United Player Code of Conduct.
