Parent Code of Conduct

The following standards are established by Greenburgh United and govern the behavior of all Greenburgh United Parents before, during, and after soccer club events. By registering for any of our programs, parents/guardians are agreeing to the following:

  1. I will not be a sideline coach or referee. I will provide positive reinforcement, care, and encouragement to my child and their teammates. I will also refrain from making negative comments to my child or their teammates.

  2. I will encourage fair play and good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every practice, game, or tournament.

  3. I will place my child's emotional and physical well-being ahead of a personal desire to win.

  4. If my child develops a behavior-related problem that repeatedly disrupts practices and games, I promise to work with my child's coach to resolve that problem.

  5. I will support coaches and officials who instruct my child to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

  6. I will not sit or stand on the coaches' and players' sideline during a match.

  7. I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from Greenburgh United events.

  8. I will demand a soccer environment for my child free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and refrain from their use at all practices and games.

  9. I will remember that the game is for my child and their teammates, not adults, and I will do my best to make soccer fun for my child.

  10. I promise to treat other fans, coaches, players, and officials with respect, regardless of race, sex, or ability.

  11. I will refrain from discussing any issues about a game with the referee or linesman at any time. This includes a call or lack of a call, before, during or after a game, and includes at the field or away from it.

  12. I will remember that as a fan, I represent Greenburgh United and the community. I understand poor behavior during practices, games, or tournaments may result in expulsion from the soccer event. (I must wait inside or next to my car in the parking area for my son or daughter). If this happens repeatedly, it will result in expulsion from the Club.

  13. I will on transporting my child and his/her teammates home be supportive and always focus on the positive aspects of his game.

  14. I will not criticize my child's coach in front of my child, their teammates, or other parents, but will raise any issues I have with the coach to the manage, communication only after 24 hours of the occurring incident/game unless it would be dangerous to a player not to address it immediately.

  15. I will instill in younger players that winning is not as important as their performance.

  16. I will inform my child's coach at the earliest convenient time if they have any mental or physical problems/ailments or limitations,

  17. I will follow the Greenburgh United Safety Protocols.

  18. I will respect the operational decisions of The Board of Directors & Club Administrators.

  19. I will contribute to building a great club & team culture for the kids' experience!

I understand that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned Greenburgh United Parent Code of Conduct, I will be subject to disciplinary action that could include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Verbal warning by the team coach and/or team manager

  • Written Notice from the Board Of Directors

  • Forfeited attendance from future games/tournament/practices

  • Removal from Greenburgh United for both parent and child

By registering your child for one of our programs, you confirm that you have read this Greenburgh United Parent Code of Conduct. I understand its requirements and agree to abide by the letter and spirit of this Greenburgh United Parent Code of Conduct.
